| The charming little hilltop village of Droushia (Drouseia)with its narrow winding streets and traditional stone houses is 27km from Paphos and 10kms inland from Polis and Latchi. Paphos International Airport is a 45 minute drive away.
Set 635 metres above sea level the word "Drouseia" (from which the villa also takes its name) means "cool and fresh" in Greek, a reference to the light breeze that blows up from the Akamas Peninsular and offers a pleasant climate particularly in the hotter months. The centre of Droushia The village which only has a population of just over 400 and where life has gone on unchanged for generations is full of character and offers the visitor the opportunity to experience true Cypriot village hospitality. Alternatively, you can drive the 10-15 minutes or so to the small fishing village of Latchi with it's picturesque harbour and fine seafood restaurants or the "Blue Flag" beach at Polis. A 5 minute drive further inland is the village of Kathikas which also has a couple of very good tavernas and a winery which you can visit. Locally you also have Polis and Latsi.... At Polis there's a small sandy beach 10 to 15 minutes drive from the village. Backed by pine trees and a eucalyptus grove there's a taverna or alternatively it's an ideal place for a picnic. Sun loungers and umbrellas are available for hire. West of Polis and again 10 to 15 minutes drive away is Latsi beach and a further 5 minutes drive from Latsi is Aphrodite Beach, the best beach in the area. Both have sun loungers and umbrellas for hire and beach front taverna's. East of Polis, Chrysochou Bay curves away where you'll find complete isolation. The beaches in the area are a mix of sand and pebble. Alternatively, the popular sandy beach at Coral Bay is only a 30 minutes drive away as is Agios Georgios Beach. Umbrellas and loungers are available for hire at both. Polis also has a selection of very good tavernas and restaurants.
Latsi Alternatively why not take a boat from the harbour to the ‘Blue Lagoon', a small bay on the Akamas Peninsula virtually inaccessible by car the lagoon has crystal clear water's ideal for snorkelling. Latsi also boasts (as does Polis) some of the best and most reasonably priced food on the island with seafood a particular speciality in the fish restaurants which line the marina and the coast. AKAMAS PENINSULAR Another 3km along the coast road from Latsi is the Akamas Peninsular. With a prohibition on development this is a true wilderness popular with walkers as there are a number of well marked nature trails. Two of the most popular the ‘Aphrodite Trail' and the ‘Adonis Trail' start and end at the Baths of Aphrodite named after Aphrodite the goddess of Cyprus and according to legend where she came to bathe after entertaining her lovers.
